| COLLAPSE RESCUE Structural
Collapse Awareness
This program is designed to teach emergency response personnel how to
maintain the integrity of structurally unstable elements. Specifically,
students will learn how to: properly transmit or redirect various collapse
loads to stable ground or other suitable structural elements that are
capable of withstanding additional loading; conduct a proper shoring size-up;
identify locations for proper shoring placement; identify the different
positions within a shoring team; summarize the purpose of position; identify
the different types of shoring components and equipment, conduct proper
hazard mitigation activities.
Structural Collapse Operations
This hands-on program teaches students how to safely and efficiently operate
at the collapse site of a wood-framed structure and offers practice in
breaching, bracing, search of collapse structures and void spaces, construction
of shoring and victim removal.
Prerequisite: RTA Structural Collapse Awareness or equivalent.
Structural Collapse Technician
This hands-on program teaches students how to safely and efficiently operate
at the collapse site of steel and concrete structures and offers practice
in breaching, bracing, search of collapse structures and void spaces,
construction of shoring and victim removal.
Prerequisite: RTA Structural Collapse Operations or equivalent.
RTA also offers the following course in Structural Collapse: The Rescue
Specialist Program is an intensive 80-hour training program that meets
NFPA 1670 and 1006 and follows the outline of the FEMA Structural
Collapse Technical Course.
