TECHNICAL SEARCH SPECIALIST

Course Description:
RTA’s Technical Search Specialist course is a 50-hour class that provides students with the knowledge and skills to perform Technical Search assessments and methods at various disaster events. This class, which meets or exceeds the Urban Search and Rescue (US&R) requirements set forth by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), focuses on the application and techniques within a man made or natural disaster aftermath.

Specific topics include:

• Advanced visual devices
• Advanced audio devices
• Equipment confidence and mobility
• Field maintaining and care
• Search canine overview and demo
• GPS and land navigation
• Day and evening practical scenario
