DISASTER RESPONSE TRAINING
Thousands of people are killed or injured each year due to natural and man-caused disasters. These incidents typically overwhelm responding emergency response personnel because of their limited resources and lack of specific knowledge regarding specific disaster management rescue operations. RTA trains and prepares domestic and international disaster response teams how to effectively mitigate and control disaster scenes through multi-faceted programs that focus on the four main elements of Emergency Management: Preparedness, Response, Recovery and Mitigation.
State and Federal Urban Search & Rescue Response Teams are becoming more prevalent with in or local response areas. RTA provides the training needed to build the fundamental needs of a new team starting out or the veteran team looking to be tested by an outside agency.
Urban Search and Rescue teams are tasked with the responsibility of responding to large scale disasters and to incidents that require the special expertise and equipment of a task force. The formal federal USAR program was established in 1989 by the Federal Emergency Management Agency and now has 28 recognized teams. In response to recent man-made and natural disasters both home and abroad, many local and state governments have recognized the need to create additional teams to quickly respond to emergency incidents within their jurisdiction. Additionally, many of the teams now carry the added responsibility of responding to hazardous materials/WMD incidents, swift water rescue calls and specialized technical rescue emergencies. Rescue Training Associates is experienced in USAR operations and delivering comprehensive training programs to USAR team members. RTA is comprised of many current and former USAR team members, representing rescue specialists, logistics specialists, search specialists, task force leaders and other USAR management staff.
